Where is ICMM 2024?

ICMM 2024 takes place in the Netherlands and Belgium. The main part of the congress is in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, with an excursion to Enkhuizen in the middle of the week. The last day of the congress is a day trip to Antwerp, but this trip is optional and not included in the standard ticket.

When is ICMM 2024?

The International Congress of Maritime Museums 2024 takes place from Sunday 15 September until Saturday 21 September 2024. The closing ceremony is on Friday 20 September, and there is an optional day trip to Antwerp on Saturday 21 September. You can decide for yourself whether you want to join the Antwerp trip, or return home on that date.

What is the programme for the congress?

Everyday, there are plenary sessions and break-out sessions in the hosting museums. There is also a social programme with dinners, drinks and sightseeing. A more detailed programme can be found on Congress Programme – International Congress of Maritime Museums (icmm-maritime.org).

Can I bring my partner?

You can buy an additional ticket for your partner. There are, however, limited partner tickets available. Partners can participate in several parts of the programme. For the rest of the time, there will be a separate programme, which is specifically organised for the partners. More details about the partner programme can be found here – Partners Programme

Where can I register for ICMM 2024?

Tickets for ICMM 2024 are available on registration.icmm2024.com

When does registration open?

You can register from Tuesday 26 March 2024. Registration closes on 15 August 2024.

Should I register for the different break-out sessions?

After the ticket registration closes, you can register for the break-out sessions. Break-out session registration opens on 15 August, and closes on 29 August 2024.

What is the ticket price for ICMM 2024?

Early bird ticket ICMM members: € 525 – available until 30 April 2024
Early bird non-members: € 650 – available until 30 April 2024
Regular ticket ICMM members: € 575 – Available from 1 May 2024
Regular ticket non-members: € 700 – Available from 1 May 2024
Partner ticket: € 425

What is included in the standard ticket price?

Tickets include all travel costs from one venue to the next in the Netherlands, all plenary and break-out sessions, receptions and lunches. Dinner is included on Wednesday and Friday.

You can buy an additional ticket for the mussels/seafood dinner on Tuesday.

Additional tickets are also available for the day trip to Antwerp on Saturday. Tickets for the Antwerp trip include travel costs and food.

Travelling to the Netherlands

Do I need a visa when travelling to the Netherlands?

It is your responsibility to apply for any visas that may be required. ICMM is not responsible for any costs (travel, accommodation, delegate fee) incurred by you if you do not have any required visas for entry to The Netherlands. Can I come to the Netherlands by plane?

To fly to the Netherlands, you can fly to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol or Rotterdam Airport. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is 15 minutes away from Amsterdam city center, and 25 minutes from Rotterdam city center (by train). Rotterdam Airport is 20 minutes away from Rotterdam city center (by bus), and you can travel between Rotterdam and Amsterdam by train.
Transport between Rotterdam and Amsterdam via Enkhuizen is included in the delegate fee. If you choose to go on the optional trip to Antwerp on Saturday 21st September, transport is included in the additional € 100 (Euros) fee for that day.

Can I come to the Netherlands by train?

Rotterdam and Amsterdam are also fast and easy to reach by high-speed rail, such as Eurostar. International direct trains from Belgium, France, the UK and Germany arrive and depart many times a day at Rotterdam Central Station.

Can I come to the Netherlands by boat?

You can travel to Rotterdam by ferry from the United Kingdom. P&O Ferries and Stena Line offer regular ferry services between the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Stena sails from Harwich, England to Hook of Holland, and it takes 30 minutes to travel from there to Rotterdam. P&O sails from Hull to Rotterdam Europoort. De Jong tours operates a shuttle service between Rotterdam Europoort and the city.

Staying in the Netherlands on Saturday is only necessary if you want to join the day trip to Antwerp, otherwise you can return home on Saturday. Transport to Antwerp and back to Amsterdam is included in the ticket for the day trip. However, you can also choose not to come back on the coach to Amsterdam, but to extend the trip and stay in Antwerp a bit longer.

What is the currency in the Netherlands and Belgium?

The currency in the Netherlands and Belgium is the Euro. Please note that it is more common to pay by card than with cash, especially in the Netherlands. There even are stores and restaurants where cash cannot be used. Make sure to always bring a credit or debit card with you when going out in the Netherlands.

If you want to exchange your currency for Euros, you can go to the currency exchange offices on the airport or the main train stations in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Is there enough time to explore the Netherlands and Belgium?

There are several moments in the programme where you have some spare time to explore Rotterdam and Amsterdam. However, if you want to see more, you are free to come to the Netherlands early or stay longer after the congress.

Tip: don’t forget to bring your ICOM card (if you have one). Of course, you will not be charged when visiting the hosting venues (Maritiem Museum Rotterdam, Het Scheepvaartmuseum Amsterdam, Zuiderzeemuseum Enkhuizen, and MAS Antwerp), but you can use your ICOM card when visiting other museums in your spare time.
