There are three types of ICMM membership:
Full Membership
For museums
Affiliate Membership
For Non-Governmental Organisations, research institutes, governmental organisations, and private companies with links to the world of museums and specifically maritime heritage. It is a broad membership category that is open to any organisation that wishes to support ICMM and keep up-to-date with what goes on in the world of maritime museums.
Associate Membership
For individuals involved in maritime heritage.
Please note that we do not accept Associate membership of a member of staff in lieu of a Full museum membership where this could be applied (i.e. – If you work for an eligible museum, please encourage your institution to join us as a Full member instead). Members of staff of Full members are able to join as Associates.
Fees
Fees for Full members are on a sliding scale based on a museum’s annual turnover. That way it’s fair for everyone, and smaller museums can still enjoy the benefits of ICMM membership. If you are a small maritime collection within a larger institution please contact us at fgreer@rmg.co.uk for advice on your membership category level. Fees for Affiliate and Associate members are fixed.
Our 2025-26 annual membership fees are:

| 4 | Over €6 million | €2,500 |
| Affiliate | Not applicable | €75 |
| Associate | Not applicable | €35 |
